Gail Margolis, Esq.

Ms. Margolis is the former Deputy Director of the California Department of Health Services and is one of the nation’s foremost authorities on health care. Ms. Margolis founded The Margolis Law Firm in Santa Monica until her appointment with the Department of Health Services. Her law firm focused on corporate, transactional, administrative and regulatory law and litigation, with specialization in health care law. Its clients included hospitals, physician groups, clinics and managed care plans. She served as President (1995-2000) of The Margolis Law Firm until her appointment with the Department of Health Services.

Ms. Margolis spent more than a decade as a Senior Administrator with Daniel Freeman Hospitals, Inc., including service as Corporate Vice President and General Counsel (1984-95). She was Vice President of Professional Services at Daniel Freeman from 1981-1984.

Ms. Margolis received a Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College in 1978 and an MBA from the University of Dallas in 1979. She earned her JD degree, graduating cum laude from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law, and received a diploma in Tax Law from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1986.
